Speaking

Past Speaking Opportunities
I have spoken at a few events, and find myself enjoying the process more and more as I am given opportunities to talk at various sizes and types of events on a variety of topics.
My first opportunity to speak was on a panel at the first Barcamp held in Ottawa, where about six established bloggers got to talk about the industry and answer a few questions. I was relatively unknown at that point, and didn’t get to contribute much, but I enjoyed the experience.
After that, I made sure to plan something for Moosecamp in Vancouver, an event held before Northern Voice begins. It is held in the Barcamp style, and so I was able to hold a session on blogging for a blog network. I received many great questions and made some great contacts during the conference.
The biggest experience I have had thus far was speaking at Blog World Expo in Las Vegas, where I was a panel member on two different panels. The first one was about adding multimedia to a blog, and the second was about monetizing a blog. Both sessions were well received and I really enjoyed contributing.
On October 5th, 2008, I spoke at WordCamp Toronto in a session entitled, “Running Your Blog Like a Pro”. The session was well received, as I covered dozens of different elements to growing a blog, monetizing it, and building your own personal brand.

Openings
I am currently able to speak at any point and time. Please contact me for details on how I can speak at your conference or event.
Related Costs
I have no problem speaking at any event that you would think I could provide benefit to, but I ask that all events that aren’t within a three hour drive to St. Thomas, Ontario Canada, contact me to arrange compensation for airfare and hotel. I also require a free all access pass to any event that I am scheduled to speak at.
I will cover my own food and other miscellaneous costs associated with attending the event.
